Well it’s the beginning of the end of another season. In all honesty I probably did more reading than watching this week, but I still got a fair amount watched, including reaching the end of certain series.
One of these was the conclusion of Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, which therefore also means that the Winter anime are now done.

Ame-iro Cocoa
Ame-iro Cocoa – if it were available legally in the UK I have no doubt that I would have watched this through to the end. But that is not the way the world works, unfortunately.
Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku – The ending of this series wasn’t exactly the best, but it was still fun. And fun this series was, more or less from start to finish. The thing that most appealed to me about this series were the characters, with Eruna appealing from the beginning. The light novels are still ongoing, and I picked up the first volume fairly early on in the season (although I havent started reading it yet). I placed the second to fourth on another order that should ship soon, but there seem to be stock issues, with volume 4 being removed and volumes 2 and 3 both currently awaiting availability – and with just 4 days left until the latest dispatch date for the order, there’s a good chance that none of the volumes will dispatch.
Owari no Seraph was a very different series, but also very much enjoyable to watch. I spent a lot of time thinking “right, and now this is going to happen”, only for it to not. The main character was somewhat frustrating at times – characters defined by extremely strong bloodlust aren’t exactly ones that appeal to me. His relatively weak character, though, just opens the way for Shinoa to take the well deserved spotlight. She’s probably the best thing about the series, and the best new character (to me) of the season’s anime. I’ll be watching the second part when it airs in the autumn.
Teekyuu continues to be Teekyuu – with the difference that this series was rather more stable in terms of enjoyment than the past ones were – missing out both the top end and the bottom end of the franchise’s fluctuations. I will, of course, be watching the 5th one over summer.
Takamiya Nasuno Desu, though, was certainly less than its parent series. Can we have a Kanae spin-off instead please? The last episode was great, though.

I really didn’t watch much in Winter did I?
Ansatsu Kyoushitsu really grew on me in the middle parts, and although the later stages of the series (as in the second half of the field trip arc) weren’t as good, the series as a whole was a pleasant surprise to someone who had largely given up on the idea of liking any newer shounen jump series, and had previously dismissed it as not worth my time. I’ll start on the manga sooner or later but I’m not sure how far I will get with it.
