These rankings are series rankings, not volume rankings. It also only includes series that have had new volumes released in the past year. The overall rankings list (the top one) has gaps as things that are not light novels (mostly manga) have been left out. This treatment has not been applied to the literature rankings, so there are a couple of non-light novels on there.

These rankings cover bookwalker ONLY but this is a major source of light novel sales, so is worth including despite being limited to a single site.

Obviously this is the Japanese bookwalker, not the global one.

The site as a whole seems to have shifted in favour of manga sales rather than light novels, based on these rankings.

Figures in brackets are last year’s rankings when appropriate.

The trend for shrinking rankings seems to be continuing – this year there is only top 50 overall and top 20 in individual rankings, rather than top 100 and top 30 previously.

Light Novel POS ranks for Year 2017

Figures in brackets after the volume titles indicate 2016’s rankings if applicable. RE indicates a volume that came out before 2016 but did not appear in last year’s rankings. If a volume came out in 2016 but did not rank, then this is indicated. If a volume is new then no figure is given.

The list below is the POS (bunsho) ranking for the full year 2017. The rankings cover the top 500 sellers of all books during the year, but those given below are just the light novels on the list. This is why there are many gaps in the rankings. There are no sales figures given for this data, and the data set is different from the one Oricon uses, which explains differences in the rankings. It has the advantage, though, of reporting much lower ranks than Oricon does.

Bear in mind that, unlike Oricon, POS rankings use the calendar year for the yearly rankings data.

No weekly watching roundups for Summer 2017 + more

Due to my work hours substantially increasing earlier this week and probably continuing over the next few months, I’m having to cut back on certain other things I do with my time, and rearrange others. Amongst other things this will of course be affecting this blog.

Here’s the plan for the regular posts on here over the next few months:
– There will be no weekly watching roundup posts at any point during Summer 2017. Instead, there will be a single season roundup post at the end of the season. There will be no “episodes watched” list on that post as this would be pointless. I may also not give details about many series I watched in that post either.
– Monthly POS ranks will not be posted in this time. These are the regular (more than 2 per year) posts that take the longest to type up, and also the posts that get the least attention.
– Monthly sales figures will be posted as usual, though some of them may be late.
– Weekly light novel releases will be posted as usual, but I will not be adding series to MAL and may not update the posts with changes.
– A watching intentions post should be up for next season tomorrow. Autumn’s post may be late.

Light novel POS ranks for Year 2016

Figures in brackets after the volume titles indicate last year’s rankings if applicable. RE indicates a volume that came out before last year but did not appear in last year’s rankings. If a volume is new or came out last year but did not rank then no figure is given.

The list below is the POS (bunsho) ranking for the full year 2016. The rankings cover the top 500 sellers of all books during the year, but those given below are just the light novels on the list. This is why there are many gaps in the rankings. There are no sales figures given for this data, and the data set is different from the one Oricon uses, which explains differences in the rankings. It has the advantage, though, of reporting much lower ranks than Oricon does.

Bear in mind that, unlike Oricon, POS rankings use the calendar year for the yearly rankings data.

These rankings are series rankings, not volume rankings. The overall rankings list (the top one) has gaps as things that are not light novels (mostly manga) have been left out. This treatment has not been applied to the literature rankings, so there are a couple of non-light novels on there.

These rankings cover bookwalker ONLY but this is a major source of light novel sales, so is worth including despite being limited to a single site.

Restarting postings of the POS rankings – with the bunko ranks this time.

Starting next week I will be posting up the monthly POS bunko rankings. It’s been 6 months now since the last bunsho rankings were posted, so I might as well switch, even though this version misses some series.

I’ll be starting with the same month as the last one that I posted the bunsho rankings for (March 2016), for comparison purposes. I intend to then post more than one a month until I catch up.
