I watched the Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun OVA whilst the internet was down (one of several things that caused me to watch less anime this week). First time I’ve watched an episode illegally in a while. This OVA was certainly different – the whole anachronistic Edo-era setting took me totally by surprise. And was great fun to watch, while somehow managing to mirror the actual story of the series.
Mayoiga – A weak ending to a not overly impressive series. It was worth the watch, I guess, but the resolution at the end felt seriously weak, and there were various things along the way that don’t quite seem right. Plus the fact that there were characters that they went through the bother of introducing and who then did precisely nothing for the rest of the series. Still, like I say it was worth the watch, being an interesting series rather than the gripping one that it initially presented itself as.
Asterisk – now that’s more like how you do an ending. I was a bit confused as to why they were going beyond the end of the festa at first, but now having seen the end of the series I think it’s better that way. At the time of writing (after finishing the series, not on posting this on the blog) there are 62 days until the scheduled release of the first volume of the series in English. I look forward to getting it.
