Dropped:
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace

Rokka no Yuusha – Before the season started I worried a bit about the possibility of the anime adaptation weakening the series and preventing me from properly enjoying it. I needn’t have bothered. The series was brilliant, from start to finish. It’s kind of difficult to say more without spoiling stuff, which is a shame as there’s quite a lot more that I would like to say. But I try to avoid spoilers so that will have to do. I am certainly looking forward to getting the light novels at some point. I may hold off a bit in the hopes that it gets released in English but sooner or later I’ll start buying the series in Japanese.

Non Non Biyori episode 10 would have stood near the top of the first season. The series overall, though, didn’t quite reach the same level (the way they tried overly hard to connect the two was uncomfortable at times) but that’s a ridiculously high standard to hold anything to, and by just about any other standard it was brilliant. It was good enough to claim both the top spot for the season and indeed the year to date. I’ve not yet picked up the English release of the manga yet, but will be sure to do so. As for the series itself, I’m not going to be importing it this time around, but if it ever gets a UK release then I’ll be sure to pick that up. Hint. Hint.
AOTY so far and likely to stay that way – there are things next season that I am looking forwards to, but it would be a big pleasant surprise if anything topped this.

Teekyuu 5 – What more is there to be said that hasn’t been said already? Teekyuu is Teekyuu. If you’ve watched any of the past series you should know what that means. If you haven’t then you just should. Onwards to season 6!

Million Doll – So, 11 episodes in, the series is finally about to begin properly. Wait, is that the ending credits? And is that the last episode of the series? Oh dear.

Joukamachi no Dandelion – Brilliant characters, and fun and enjoyable. I like the way it ended, too, although it removes all possibility of continuation. I already tried to buy the manga with the last order but all volumes were completely out of stock. So I’ll buy it later. I’ll buy the anime if it comes out in the UK as well (which is likely given that it was simulcast on viewster through anime limited)

Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri – Good series, that seems to be doing a very good job at exploring its concept. I will, of course, be continuing with this when the second half airs.

Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai – well, wasn’t this a pleasant surprise? It’s not often that something as… dirty as this takes my fancy but this was genuinely fun, albeit rather embarrassing as well. I actually find myself hoping that there isn’t an uncensored version as it would likely be less entertaining. I will buy the light novel, or at least the first one – to see what it’s like. And then promptly hide it.

Danchigai – In all honesty, Satsuki was the only part of this series that was ever worth watching. There wasn’t really anything else of interest. No point buying something just for that.

Himouto! Umaru-chan – good fun character-based comedy, although I’m not overly fond of any of the characters individually, which is an unusual combination. As for buying the series… who knows. I get the feeling some of the jokes work better in anime format than as a manga.

As a side note, it was nice to see the GJ-bu characters again, and focused on the original cast as well.

Next week will be the final roundup for Summer and should have the final rankings for both that and Spring.
