Dropped:
Show by Rock!! (fansub rule)

Thoughts:

Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken was much as expected, and much the same as the first one was.

Urawa no Usagi-chan was a few minutes of fluff each week. If the episodes had been longer I would probably have dropped it.

Etotama – For the first few episodes, this series was mildly amusing and just about entertaining enough to get my interest and keep me watching. Nothing much more – it got pushed to the side slightly as I started to inevitably fall behind on the season. The low point of the series was the second episode, as Mo-tan’s antics only served to irritate me. Then at the end of episode three that happened, and I nearly dropped the series. After that, though, the series exploded into greatness. Even the recap episode was good enough that I didn’t even realise that it was one until Shaa-tan pointed it out… And then that ending – honestly I don’t think I’ve ever seen a series end like that before, and I’m not sure I ever will again. All in all, though, this series was brilliant. Even Mo-tan ended up garnering a bit of affection by the end. This is one series that makes me so glad that I don’t use the whole “three episode rule” thing, as I’d have surely dropped it if I did. Instead, I had brilliant laughs and brilliant entertainment.

Re-Kan! I’ve just placed on hold until the official UK release comes out. This will likely be a couple of years away yet, but I’m not too bothered about that.

Show By Rock!! was another classic fansub drop. I have no intention of playing the game (if that’s even possible for me) so the only option would be to buy the anime, and I really don’t see myself doing that. The fact that it made it as far as episode 7 before I felt confident of this was actually slightly surprising.

DanMachi was enjoyable if a bit weird in the way it ended. In fact that last episode was very weird. I’m sure it makes far more sense and is better in the novels, though (based in part on the difference between the first 2 novels and their adaptations). I I will continue buying and reading these, and would recommend others to do the same.

Kiniro Mosaic was a series that I had expected to be good. What I hadn’t expected, however, was for it to be better than the first series was. But better it was. I loved the new characters, and all the comedy was great, too. Not really much to say on this one other than that.

Tesagure! Bukatsumono is a series which has always had its ups and downs. With this spin-off going even more all over the place than either of the original parts to the series did, it’s actually surprising that almost every episode was top tier. Even the repeat of the “reuse the footage” thing was much better this time around than it had been in the second season where it so badly damaged my viewing experience. However, with so much variety there were always going to be a few dips, and (perhaps just due to a lack of experience) the purupurun characters weren’t as good at the improv stuff (Enjouji Yui being a notable exception) as the tesabu lot. Still, this series is the epitome of underappreciated anime among the western fandom, and I absolutely love it.

Hibike! Euphonium. Well, what can I say? It delivered. From start to finish, building up almost perfectly with no significant wavering except for a slight feeling that the very last scene could have been done better. Quite a few great characters, too. I hope we see a continuation. Maybe I should try buying the novels?

Ongoing to next season are Arslan Senki and Kyoukai no Rinne – the latter of which I’m far behind on and am not yet sure will make it (fansub rule doesn’t apply, though, as I already own most of the manga). I’ve yet to finish OreGairu Zoku, and barely started the second season of Fate. Oh, and then there’s pikaia for if I get really bored. I’m not sure I’ll ever watch any more of it, but it’s staying on watching for now. A couple of new series have already started, but most will begin in earnest over the next few days. I don’t like starting things on day 1, though, although NNB will be hard to hold off on.

Wakaba*Girl

Won’t watch:
Aquarion Logos – Not watched Aquarion Evol
Boo Boo Boy – no chance this could be entertaining in any way.
Deban Desu yo! Onigirizu – I don’t know the context.
Dragon Ball Super – not a fan of the franchise.
Durarara!! x2 Ten – haven’t watched any of the previous series.
Fate/kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2wei! Herz! – haven’t watched the first one.
Gatchaman Crowds Insight – didn’t particularly like the look of the first one.
Imabari Barysan – I had a flip around the website and the anime isn’t even mentioned. And what there is doesn’t seem of interest.
Junjou Romantica 3 – not watched previous series.
Kaijuu Sakaba Kanpai! – looks awful
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou – This would be just like Kiseijuu was, except I’m even more convinced that I won’t be able to stand it. Why should I waste 2 minutes of my life just confirming that the series is a bunch of disgusting nightmare material when Seven Seas have already shown me that it is by shoving it in my twitter feed several times a day?
Q Transformers 2 – not a fan of the franchise.
Senki Zesshou Symphogear GX: Believe in Justice and Hold a Determination to Fist is an odd case – Not watched the second series yet. I will probably be watching this one once I have done so, though.
The Idolm@ster: Cinderella Girls 2nd Season – not a fan of the franchise, and haven’t watched the first one.
To Love-Ru: Trouble – Darkness 2nd – not watched previous one
Wooser no Sono Higurashi Mugen Hen – dropped on series 1.
Working!!! – not watched previous series, and although I intend to do so, I probably won’t be able to any time soon.

Expectation levels: (as before this isn’t saying “this will be good” but as something to look back to)

Non Non Biyori:
Non Non Biyori Repeat – this needs a category all to itself.

High Expectations:
Charlotte
Danchigai
Gakkou Gurashi!
Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri
Himouto! Umaru-chan
Joukamachi no Dandelion – This sounds fun.
Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan
Overlord – optimistically cautious would be about right to describe my expectations of this – not cautiously optimistic, optimistically cautious.
Sore ga Seiyuu! – Will either be amusing or informative. Or both.
Teekyuu 5 – because 4 seasons of Teekyuu goodness wasn’t enough.
Wakaba*Girl – because we always need more CGDCT series.

Not sure what to expect:
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime – Seems a little too shoujo-esque to put it in the high expectations category.
Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Senyaku
Chu Feng: BEE – It’s Chinese. In Japanese. I don’t know what to make of that.
God Eater – indifferent to everything I’ve seen about it, including the things that others are raving about. We’ll see.
Kurayami Santa – something a bit different, I guess.
Million Doll – Idol stuff.
Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace – lack of information
Rokka no Yuusha – Lots of people seem to like the light novel, but I’ve heard the anime is making some rather bizarre changes, so what else will they change? And will it threaten what makes the series liked?
Suzakinishi The Animation – What can you expect from what appears to be an anime adaptation of a talk show?
Ushio to Tora – My instincts say no, but the manga has been compared to a lot of things that I enjoyed, so I’m not really sure.
Venus Project: Climax – Idol stuff.

Low Expectations:
Aoharu x Kikanjuu
Bikini Warriors – seems more focused on the “bikini” part than the “warrior” part. I’m expecting another Momo Kyun Sword, but I could be pleasantly surprised
Classroom Crisis – a space setting is usually a bad sign, as it invariably means that the author thought to themself “hey, wouldn’t it be cool if, for no real reason, I set this series is SPACE… of course I then have to get rid of every aspect of it that an actual space setting would have, but still, set in SPACE, man. Isn’t that, like, awesome?” To which the answer is obviously “no”.
Gangsta. – other than through the addition of warped human bodies *cough*kiseijuu*cough*monster musume*cough*, it’s hard to imagine how this could be made into something that appealed to me less.
Jitsu wa Watashi wa – looks too cringe-humour-esque. Could still be good, though.
Kangoku Gakuen – Errm yeah. Giving this a chance because I said I would more than out of any hopes of deriving enjoyment out of it. Who knows? Maybe I’ll awaken to a new fetish or something.
Makura no Danshi – gender-flipped Issho ni Sleeping?
Miss Monochrome: The Animation 2nd Season – I’m not overly sure why I finished the first one. I’ll probably finish this one as well, and not know why I did that either.
Okusama ga Seito Kaichou! – condoms.
Pikkapika Summer – All I have to go on is a single, very small picture. That’s enough to put this in the Low Expectations category.
Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai – This doesn’t sound like my sort of series. I’m not overly fond of dirty jokes and, despite the title’s claim, this will probably be full of them. It could be entertaining in other ways, though.
Wakako-zake – nothing about this sounds appealing. But we’ll see.
