Dropped:
Amagi Brilliant Park

Amagi Brilliant Park was on the verge of being dropped under fansub rule* for some time. Then the pile of trash that was episode 8 came along and meant that it could be dropped even without that.

Kokkuri-san (NOTE: I am a long way behind on this series) continues to introduce godawful characters to the series, which is depressing.

That’s literally it for the negatives this week, though.

OreTwi had it’s best episode in a while (NOTE: this is last week’s episode. I’m typically watch this series on Friday afternoons). Which is really saying something. I actually went back over a few bits straight away to rewatch them because they were so funny. I know some people probably do this a lot but for me it’s virtually unheard of – I’ll rewatch episodes but usually only rewatch bits of episodes if I miss something.

I got round to watching another couple of episodes of Fate/Stay Night (still an episode behind on this) which really picked up that series well, and enough to push it into the intense competition that had been going on for second.

Inou-Battle’s latest episode was a bit of an odd one – the entire thing was spent building up towards stuff that is obviously going to happen in the rest of the episodes. Nonetheless still a thoroughly enjoyable episode.

I’m starting to grow attached to Madan at last as well. There seem to be rather fewer of the stuff that put me off it a bit at first.

The Episode of the Week, though, goes hands down to YuuYuuYuu episode 9. The series had, of course, been clearly heading towards something like this, but that didn’t make it any less powerful when it hit. Just from that single episode it’s pulled well ahead of the group that it was in amongst. Watch out, OreTwi. If every episode of this series from here on out is that good then your first place could be under threat.

*If anyone asks me to then I’ll make a blog post explaining this. Otherwise I’ll leave it to when it actually takes effect. Which almost certainly isn’t going to be this season now.

  1. I would have multiple guesses as to what the fansub rule means:

    1. Terribly worded fansubs (for “comedy” or otherwise)
    2. Only accessible translation is fansubs
    3. Fansub group(s) being dumb and/or assholes

Would enjoy seeing you elaborate. I haven’t watched a fansubbed episode in years, tho; it’s all CR and himado for me these days.
