Japanese Light Novel Sales for w/c 17th November – summary and assorted comments.

Late post as I wasn’t around yesterday. Sorry.

Full sales data can be found here: http://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1314423

Oregairu dominates as expected. 93.7k sales is comfortably the highest first week sales the series has ever seen – the previous volume sold about 80k over the same number of days, and that had two versions as well (which tends to increase week 1 sales slightly). It’ll probably be top next week as well.

Highschool DxD gains only slightly more sales than last time (37k against 36k) despite having an extra day. there are a number of possible explanations other than a drop in interest, though.

Tokyo ravens volume 12 sells 25k copies. That’s not really comparable with the data for volume 11, but all signs indicate that this volume is likely to get the highest sales figure to date, at least from weekly data.

Full Metal Panic! Another sells 16k copies. Again, no real way to compare with the last volume’s sales but this time it looks like a drop.

KoreZom 17 and Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records 2 both pass 10k. The latter’s first volume sold 11k over 9 days, so this one doing over 10k after 4 indicates a decent increase. KoreZom, on the other hand, looks like a slight drop.

The RE of DanMachi 6 sold a tad over 10k copies. LE nowhere to be seen. This makes it the second volume from the series to pass 30k. It should be able to overtake volume 5 next week. This is almost the only volume to rerank this week, with bunko thresholds almost 50% higher than last week (and more than 50% higher than the previous one).

After that we have another mass of new releases headed by Gakusen Toshi Asterisk 7 (down slightly on volume 5). There’s so many of these that it’s not worth going over them all (18 new releases on just the bunko rankings) and there’s probably several others that sold enough to have ranked in a quieter week. If you want more info, click on the link at the top.

Kokuhaku Yokou Renshuu somehow manages to get a fourth week in the rankings in amongst this all.

I’m going to sort out the all time rankings later today and edit this post when done.
